B. 12-26-1858; Decatur Co., Grand River, IA D. 9-22-1890; Decatur Co., IA; buried Oak Hill Cemetery OBITUARY - MISS ANN CREES Decatur County Journal October 2, 1890 DIED -- of consumption, near Grand River, Iowa, September 22, 1890, at 4:30 p.m., Miss Ann Crees, aged 31 years, 8 months and 27 days. Miss Ann Crees was born December 26, 1858, near Grand River, and with the exception of one year, she spent her life in this county. She was a lovely Christian young woman, greatly esteemed by all who knew her. She united with the church over fifteen years ago, and has lived a constant Christian life. She was taken ill three years ago, went to California for a change, where she spent one year; then came home last fall. After teaching school one term, she had to give it up on account of her sickness. In her last illness she has borne her sufferings with the greatest fortitude, and in her last hours her mind was clear and she seemed very happy. She spoke about her death without fear and told her relatives not to cry, for she was only resting, and it was but one step to the other world, and she would be with her mother and Savior. Just before death, she gazed Heavenward with surprise and gladness, as if she saw the glory awaiting her, and passed away calmly. The funeral took place at her father's home Wednesday, September 24th, 10 a.m. And the remains were laid in Funktown Cemetery. The funeral was conducted by Rev. M.E. Barakat.
