Bio

Douglas A. White, Sr., of Lewisville, Texas, died unexpectedly on Saturday, December 8, 2007. He was born November 1, 1923, in Dallas and lived in North Texas all his life, graduating from N. R. Crozier Technical High School. Doug served in the Seabees in World War II. In February 1943 he married Ruth Nesmith White, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of nine years, Dee Rutherford White. Doug worked for many years as a draftsman for local oil companies. Along with his first wife Ruth and sons Doug Jr. and DeWayne, he founded Starcraft of Dallas, selling recreational vehicles. Doug enjoyed an active lifestyle, fishing and camping, working on home-improvement projects and crafts, dancing at senior centers around North Texas, and repairing anything that was broken. He was passionate in his political beliefs and not afraid to share his opinions. Doug is survived by his wife Dee; daughter Sandra Nachlinger, sons Doug Jr. and DeWayne and their spouses; step-children Jon Rutherford, Mamie Woods, and Gretchen Minchew and their spouses; brother Ralph E. White of California; sister Evie Rowan of Cedar Hill, TX; 11 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are welcome at the Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Flower Mound from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 12 at Lamb of God Lutheran Church. Graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Restland Memorial Park.
