Obituary for Ira Wade Pursley Ira Wade Pursley 88, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. Ira was a long-time resident of Conyers, Ga. She was born in DeRidder, LA. to the late Biniam Hester and Elva Southern Hester. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Donald Lee Pursley and son Steve Pursley all of Conyers, GA. Mrs. Pursley leaves behind to cherish her memories, her son and daughter- in-law Tony and Carolyn Pursley of Toccoa, GA., her sister-in-law Pam Pursley of Lawrenceville, GA., and an abundance of nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. Ira was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and friend to all she knew. She worked for the Dekalb County School systems, while her sons attended Gordan High School. Growing up in Louisiana she learned to play piano and sang in church. She played for many parties, and family events. Ira was an avid fan of country music, many said she sounded just like Patsy Cline. She loved animals, especially her dogs, also she spent many hours bird watching. She was a great cook and made the best sweet tea in the south! Ira was so loved and will be greatly missed. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 2pm at Wheeler Funeral Home located at 11405 Brown Bridge Covington GA, with Pastor Bobby Simmons officiating. The family will receive friends from 1pm – 2pm. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Green Meadows Memorial Gardens 699 American Legion Rd NE, Conyers, GA 30012.
