Bio

Wanda (Ward) Shearer Wanda (Ward) Shearer died Tuesday, October 9, 2007, in Arvada, Colorado, from complications due to lung cancer. Wanda was born in Central City, Nebraska, on October 7, 1952, to William H. and Fern (Wagner) Ward. She was the youngest of their three children. The family relocated to Meridian, where Wanda graduated from Meridian High School in 1970. Shortly after, Wanda met and married Donald F. Shearer on May 15, 1971. They had one son. The family moved to San Diego, California and lived there for three years while Don was in the U.S. Navy. The family returned to Boise, where they lived until recently. Wanda worked in a variety of positions for the U.S. government. She began as a secretary for the Department of Fish and Game, moved to the Bureau of Land Management, and then worked her way up in the Bureau of Reclamation. Wanda worked in the Boise Reclamation office until a promotion to Lead Analyst took her and Don to the Denver office in March 2007. Wanda enjoyed camping, sewing, miscellaneous arts and crafts, cooking and shopping. Wanda's favorite activity in recent years was being "Oma" to her grandsons. Wanda will be remembered for her generous nature, her sense of humor, and her zest for life. Wanda is survived by her husband Don Shearer, her son Billy (Ali) Shearer of Meridian, grandsons: Norrin and Logan Shearer, parents Bill and Fern Ward of Meridian, brother Ken (Vienna) Ward of Caldwell, sister Marcia (Gregg) Roberts of Rantoul, Illinois, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and three great aunts. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law Fred Shearer, and her sister-in-law Diane Bower. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to St. Luke's Mountain States Tumor Institute (MSTI), 100 E. Idaho Street, Boise, Idaho 83712, or Collier Hospice Center, 3210 Lutheran Parkway, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033. A funeral service will be held at the Alden Waggoner Funeral Chapel, 5400 Fairview Ave., Boise, Idaho, on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at 2 p.m. A reception will follow.
