Bio

Kenneth Ray Steele, age 74 of Keith Springs, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Cowan on March 16, 1949 to the late Clennon Steele and Mary Fay Steele Judge. A proud veteran, he served his country in the United States Army. Before his retirement, Kenneth worked as a heavy equipment operator. Kenneth cherished the time spent with his beloved family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Adrian Steele, Ben Steele, Harold Steele, Marlin Steele, and Hershel Judge. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Lena Steele of Keith Springs; children, Michael Steele of Keith Springs, and Christi (Darrell) Ashley of Winchester; grandchildren, Daulton (Becca) Mahaffey of Keith Springs, Daylan (Lauren) Steele of Huntland, Tiffany (Daniel) Wright of Belvidere, Amber (Andrew) Alford of Tullahoma, Nicholas (Emilee) Ashley of Hickman Air Force Base, Andrew Mahaffey of Manchester, and Abby Mahaffey of Manchester; great-grandchildren, Peyton Majors-Mahaffey, Brantley Steele, Rilee Mahaffey, Alec Wright, Bentley Alford, Hudson Steele, and Ridge Steele; brothers, Wayne Steele of Decherd; and Sherman (Ann) Steele of Keith Springs; sisters, Phyllis Riddle of Winchester, and Margaret Bland of Winchester; and beloved pet, Annie Belle. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 20, 2023 in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Chuck Stines officiating. Interment will follow at Keith Springs Cemetery with military honors bestowed.
