Bio

Blair Russell Sonka, age 27, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2005 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born to Larry and Cheryle (Ross) Sonka on February 18, 1977 in Raleigh, North Carolina. He attended James Madison High School, San Antonio, TX from where he graduated in June of 1996. Blair was of warm heart and unlimited generosity to those he knew and loved. Always willing to help others and bring smiles to those in need. He was a master craftsman at things electrical and carpentry. His devotion to family was never-ending and always plentiful. Blair had a gift for gifts; always buying the perfect gift for the perfect someone. When not lending a helping hand to others, his hobbies would include target shooting at his parent's ranch, celebrating life with his friends, and he was an electronic gaming expert. In addition, Blair enjoyed disc golf. He was a man of many friends and a laugh for any occasion. Survivors include: parents, Larry & Cheryle Sonka of Hobson, TX; brothers, Lance Wayne Sonka & wife Judy of Helotes and Shanon James Sonka of Karnes City; uncle to Lexi Sonka & Austin Sonka of Karnes City and Ashley Sonka & Hailey Sonka of Helotes; cousins, Michelle Kaboudan & Kris Moyer, both of Kansas. Other family members include: Dee McCoy, C.V. & Lois Voelkers, Pam DuRossett, Tony & Jane Ross, Bill & Betty Pippin, Tom & Adell Valdek and their children, Benny & Sally, Vicki Gillis, Dr. & Mrs. Mark Dennis, DVM, Torin Kaboudan, Amanda & Hannah Moyer. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at Schertz Funeral Home at 7:30 PM. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 3, 2005 at St. Helena Catholic Church with Monsignor Leo M. Dolan as celebrant. Graveside services and interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements with: Schertz Funeral Home.
