Bio

Garden of Cross (South of Sidewalk) in Memoryland Memorial Park Cemetery. Sam Ethridge, 94, of Tyler, formerly of Greenville passed away February 18, 2014 at Briarcliff Health Center in Tyler. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday in the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Mr. Frank Morgan and Mr. Randy Daw officiating. Interment will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM Friday until service time at the funeral home. Born January 26, 1920 in Campbell, Sam was the son of Anderson Duke and Lily (White) Ethridge. On December 25, 1941 in Cumby, he married Marjorie Taylor. He was raised on a farm in the Caney Community and continued to farm there until they moved to Greenville in 1948. He worked for the Texas Highway Department for 34 years. Mr. Ethridge was a member of West Erwin Church of Christ in Tyler. Survivors include his wife,daughter, grandchildren ; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson Andy Parish, his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
