Athens Daily Review An Athens, Route 3, man and his wife were pronounced dead on arrival at Henderson County Memorial Hospital Thursday after a collision between two automobiles about a half mile east of Athens near Sand Springs community on State Highway 31 about 4:10 p.m. They were identified by State Highway Patrolman Paul Clanton as Carl Clement Kinchen, 82, a sign painter, and Mrs. Sula Kinchen, 75. Justice of the peace, W.C. Richards of Athens returned an inquest verdict at the hospital of accidental death. Mrs Elsie Jordan Eberhart, Brownsboro, an employee of the First National Bank of Athens, was admitted to the hospital with injuries. The officer said Mr. Kinchen was driving onto SH 31 from a dirt road on the south side of SH 31 and intending to turn west. He said Mrs. Eberhart was traveling east on the highway and that Kinchen pulled into the path of her car. The two automobiles collided in the intersection. Both cars were demolished.
