Mrs. J. C. Hale, 85, Dies at Anson; Roby Rites Set Anson - Mrs. J. C. Hale, 85, died at the home of her son, Burl Hale, in Anson at 5 a.m. Thursday. Born Isabell Fredrick [??] on July 17, 1877 in Tuscaloosa, Ala., she came with her parents to Texas as a child, settling in Grayson County where she was reared. She was married there to J. C. Hale in 1896. The couple moved to Longworth in Fisher County in 1919. Mr. Hale died there in 1931. After her husband's death, she made her home with her son, Travis Hale, until moving to Anson two years ago. Funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. in First Baptist Church of Roby where Mrs. Hale was a member, with the Rev. John Burleson, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Hamlin, officiating. Burial will be in Roby Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Lawrence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The body will lie in state at the Travis Hale residence, three miles west of the Pope Store on Highway 180 between Anson and Roby. Surviving are five sons, Burl of Anson, Travis of McCaulley, Austin of Haskell, Vernon of Fort Worth, Lloyd of San Antonio; one daughter, Mrs. George A. West of Merkel; three sisters, Mrs. Freddie Gray and Mrs. Sidney Kelley, both of Sadler, Texas, and Mrs. Ada Henderson of Whitesboro, Tex.; 29 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
