James Daniel Motl, age 90, of San Angelo, Texas passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, January 27, 2023. James was born on October 7, 1932, in Veribest, Texas to the late Ed Motl and Clydis Hope White. James served in the United States Navy Reserves from 1951 to 1957. He was active duty in 1954 through 1956 where he served on the USS Midway at Pearl Harbor. After being honorably discharged, he went on to work for Bell Helicopter in Fort Worth for several months before settling down in San Angelo. James was a welder and worked for his stepfather, Dan Jones, for many years. He also worked for Monarch Tiles, Western Iron Works, Colonial Food Stores and OIME in Odessa. In his most recent years, he worked for San Angelo Country Club where he helped maintain the golf carts until his retirement. James was a member of the Masonic Lodge. James was a hard worker with a strong work ethic. He took pride in providing for his family. In 1985 he fought and survived cancer. He took most things in stride and was an example of strength to his three daughters. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, landscaping, and being outside. He kept a beautiful yard. He was a wonderful father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a good hearted family man and will forever be missed by all who knew and loved him. James was preceded in death by his parents; his loving and devoted wife of almost fifty-three years, Ann Motl; great-grandson Barnabas Foster; sister Billye Kyle; and brother William Michael (Mickey) Jones. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughters Nan Hadorn and husband Guy, Martha Motl and partner Gene Lara, Debra Lewis and husband Steve; granddaughters Lisa Hadorn and husband Cody Martin, Rebecca Foster and husband Justin, Rachel Brady and husband Chance, Paige Ramirez and husband Daniel; great-grandchildren Jason, Grace, Reece, and Cameron; half sister Lola, step-sisters Betty Miller and Shirley Sebastian. In addition, he leaves behind numerous other loving family members and friends. The family would like to thank Concho Valley Home Health, Visiting Angels, Concho Hearts Hospice, Jym Trimble, Cindy Baca, Alice Gonzalez, Shandy Childs and Angela for their love, care and kindness. A graveside service will be held at 4pm on Monday, January 30, 2023, with eulogy by Jym Trimble, at Fairmount Cemetery 1120 West Ave N, San Angelo, Texas 76901.
