Fisher That no man knoweth what one moment will bring him was probably never more forceful exemplified than in the death of Mr. E. F. Fisher, which the unlooked-for event happened in San Antonio at an early hour on Wednesday morning of last week. Mr. Fisher had gone to that city only a few days before his death, and when he left he appeared to be in his usual good health. Neither he nor any of his relatives and host of friends had the least thought that his body was to be brought home in a very few days shrounded for lay away in its final resting place. Mr. Fisher retired at his usual hour Tuesday night, apparently as well as usual though during the day he had what was tho't to have been a slight chill. At about midnight some of the hotel attendants went to his room to see how he was getting along, and he appeared to be sleeping peacefully. But was it the sleep of death? Only the grim reaper knows. As he did not come down the next morning, hotel attendants entered his room and he was dead. A physician was called, but we have not learned what his decision was as to the cause of death. Sam Fisher, son of the deceased, went over Wednesday afternoon and arranged for the body to be bro't home on the Thursday morning train. Mr. Fisher was one of the old timers of this community, having resided here for about forty years. He engaged in farming and merchandising and other pursuits. All the undertakings were successful and at the time of, of his health he was one of our most substantial citizens. When the new State Bank was organized a few months ago he became one of the largest stockholders and was on the board of directors. When the body arrived Thursday morning, it was carried to the home of Sam Fisher, where funeral services were held at 4 o'clock that afternoon. After the services the body was conveyed to the last resting place in the city cemetery and tenderly laid to rest, a host of friends being present to pay a last tribute to a departed friend and neighbor. The surviving children, Sam F. Fisher and Mrs. J. F. Robinson, as well as other relatives, have the sincere sympathy of a host of friends in their hour of sorrow. NOTE: This was typed and mailed to me by the County Clerk's office. In the fourth paragraph, I wonder if a typographical error was made and it should be ".......at the time of his death he was one of our most substantial citizens." Strange sentence above....!
