Joseph Roman Dolan was born February 7, 1920 on a farm near Lucan to John and Mary (Pavek) Dolan. He graduated from Milroy High School in 1940. He was a member of the Milroy State Championship Baseball Team in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army Aircorp and was stationed in Burma during World War II. He married Evelyn Welu March 4, 1946 and they farmed near Lucan until retirement in 1985. After moving to Lucan he continued to be active in Our Lady of Victory Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Granite Rock Township Board, the REA board and the ASCS Committee. He was the past president of the Lucan Lions Club and was the American Legion Commander this past year. On July 2, 1993 Joseph Roman Dolan passed away at the Weiner Memorial Medical Center in Marshall, Minnesota at the age of 73 years, 4 months, and 25 days. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn and his parents. He is survived by his 13 children and their spouses; Kenneth and Marie, Neil and Linda, Robert and Peggy all of Lucan; Michael and Cecelia of Minneapolis, Larry and Linda of St. Cloud, Daniel and Linda of Montevideo, Timothy and Joy of Appleton, Terrance and Susan of Bloomington, Jean and Donald Schmidt of Milroy, Janette and Steve LaVoy of Tracy, Rose and Steve Oakland of Fulda, Mary and Bob Anderson of Burnsville, and Patricia and Steve Johnson of Chanhassen. He is also survived by his 28 grandchildren and 6 brothers and 6 sisters; Louis of Milroy, Patrick of Redwood Falls, John of Minnetonka, Mark of Milroy, Donald of Prescot, WI, Lawrence of Faribault, Relen Schwab of Marshall, Agnes Marquardt of Vesta, Doris Rohlik of Lucan, Margaret LeTourneau of Lake Elmo. Mary Ellen Peterson of Robbinsdale, and Nora Schommer of Marshall. Blessed be his memory.
