Bio

Billy Gene Bowling, 78, of Powder Springs, Georgia, passed away on December 22, 2022. Bill was born in Coffeeville, Mississippi to Leo and Clara Bowling on March 13, 1944. After being named "Most Handsome" and graduating from Calhoun City High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served in Vietnam. He used the G.I. Bill to earn a Bachelor of Accounting from Georgia State University. While he spent most of his career working in the office, Bill's favorite job was as an electrician, pulling wire and walking on stilts. Bill married the former Lynda Godfrey in 1969. In 53 years of marriage, Bill was a sweet gentleman of a husband, an ever-challenging but supportive dad, and the very best Papaw to his grandchildren. Bill is preceded in death by parents Leo & Clara Bowling, brothers Tommy Bowling, Dale Bowling, and Delma Bowling, sisters Mabel Armour, Katherine Prewitt, Eloise Head, and Elizabeth Lowe. He is survived by his wife Lynda Bowling; son Alan Bowling (Maggie) and step-daughter LeaAnn Morgan (John); brother Harold Bowling (Eva); grandchildren Jacqueline Morgan, Emily Bowling, Louise Bowling, Garrett Bowling, and Elizabeth Bowling. A memorial service will be held from 2:00 to 4:30 on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dream Dachshund Rescue at www.dreamrescue.org in honor of his dogs Winnie and Little Bit.
