Bio

Larry Luza September 10, 1943 — December 17, 2022 Larry Luza September 10, 1943 - December 17, 2022 It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Larry Luza, age 79, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in College Station on the morning of December 17, 2022. Larry was a very strong man that had battled cancer for many years. Larry attended St. Joseph Catholic School and Stephen F. Austin High School. In his teen years he worked on the highway, mowing, then later worked on his aunt and uncle's dairy farm. When he and Barbara married, he worked for Sears. He worked many decades for Texas A&M's Physical Plant where his friends nicknamed him "Hummingbird " because he was always humming and had a smile on his face. Larry later retired from A&M but that did not last long because he was not a "Honey Do" husband. He went to work at Compass SSO, he said, to rest. Larry liked watching football, Gunsmoke, and Nascar racing on TV. He was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt and collected many of his model racecars and other Earnhardt memorabilia. Larry loved gardening, camping, and fishing with family and friends. He also liked working crossword puzzles. Holidays were a time for barbeques and crayfish boils and he really loved Rebekah's gumbo. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Cecilia Luza; sister, Pat Nemec; and brothers, John and Bill Luza.
