Buffalo Gap, Texas - Karen Kay "K.K." Baker, 49, died Sunday, February 17, 2008, at her residence. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at the pavilion in the Old Settlers Ground in Buffalo Gap, with Chip Sugar officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Gap Cemetery, directed by Fry - Bartlett Funeral Home in Tuscola. Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Karen was born July 6, 1958, in Ft. Worth, to Roy E. and Mildred Brumley Baker. She spent her childhood in Granbury before moving to Abilene, where she attended Mann Junior High School and Abilene High School, graduating in 1975. She attended Howard Payne University for two years. An employee of Taylor County for 17 years, she was payroll administrator at the time of her death. She married Steve Humphreys, operations manager of Rush Truck Center in Tye, on August 22, 1998, in Buffalo Gap. She was an active member of the Lone Star Ladies Riding Group and Team Ropers Association. She loved her horses, her dogs and spending time with her trail riding friends in the mountains and ranches. She was an avid trophy hunter and was featured on National Whitetail Association. Preceding her in death were her mother and a seven year old sister, Diane Baker. Survivors include her husband, Steve Humphreys of Buffalo Gap; her 90 year old father, R. E. Baker of Anson; a sister, Debbie Henry and husband Jerry of Anson; one niece, Shannon Baker of Hamlin; one nephew, Stratford Henry of Ft. Worth; and many friends.
