Bio
Chester Leon Fuessley, 80, of Walker, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at his home. Family will greet friends and family from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022, at Walker Methodist Church in Walker. A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the church, conducted by Reverend Patrick Munyakazi. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. Burial will follow at Troy Mills Cemetery in Troy Mills, Iowa. Chester was born on June 6, 1942, in Buchanan County, Iowa, the son of Paul and Vera (Powell) Fuessley. He graduated from Troy Mills High School. On December 27, 1961, he was united in marriage to Virginia Mills in Troy Mills. Chester worked for Farm Service for two years, he drove gas truck. He farmed all of his life, starting at the age of 18, in the Troy Mills and Walker area. He was a member of Walker Methodist Church where he taught adult bible study, participated in A Walk to Emmaus, and was a member of the choir. Chester was also a member of the North Linn School Board and several other committees. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching his grandchildren in their school activities, and farming with his sons. Most of all, he enjoyed family gatherings on Sunday evenings. Chester will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth; and brother-in-law, Geroge Johnston. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Chester's memory may be directed to either Walker Methodist Church or to Mercy Hospice.
