HERSHEL W SHELLEY Memorial services for Hershel W Shelley, 64, will be held at 10 am Tuesday in Oroville First Southern Baptist Church with the Rev David Likins officiating. Shelley died Thursday in Oroville Hospital. He was born Aug 11, 1922, in Stanford (sic), Tex. He moved to Orobille in 1971 from Bell Gardens where he worked fpr a Caterpillar dealer and was a field mechanic for Sheppard Machinery of Los Angeles. After moving here he worked for various tractor dealers in Sacramento and Butte County and owned operated an olive orchard in the Oroville area. He was member of the Operating engineers Local 3 of Marysville, a member of the First Southern Baptist Church and served on the executive board of Southern Baptist Convention of California. He is survived by his wife, Betty; a daughter, Barbara June Nash of Chico; a son, Ray Shelley of Oroville; his father, Andrew H Shelley of Oroville; four sisters, Pearl Spinks of Yucaipa, Ruby Baggett of Corsicana, Tex, Mildred Sprouse of Fresno and Hazel Peschel of Sealy, Tex; four grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. His son John Shelley predeceased him in 1976. Contributions may be made in Shelley's memory to the First Southern Baptist Church building fund at 395 Oakvale Ave, Oroville. Arrangements were handled by Scheer Memorial Chapel.
