Sally Margaret Tilton September 4, 1935 ~ November 25, 2022 Sally Margaret Tilton, age 87, went to her heavenly home on Friday, November 25, 2022. She was born September 4, 1935 in Burlington, IA., and was the daughter of the late Benjamin Wilson and Margaret Pansy Fairbanks Sylvester. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Tilton; grandson, Joshua Tilton; siblings, Bo Sylvester, Betty Tiemeier, Pat Johnson, Shirley Hoelzen, and Wayne Sylvester. Mrs. Tilton was an Air Force wife for 20 years, traveling internationally in that time to countries like Japan and Canada, as well as living stateside in Alaska. Later in life, she volunteered at the pantry at St. Rose of Lima Parish and worked in the cafeteria at Cason Lane Academy. After retirement, she loved to travel to California to visit her oldest son, visiting the missions at the same time, and also to Iowa to visit her daughter's families, and her sister, who lives in Cedar Rapids. Her favorite activity was crafting, and she especially loved visiting the sapphire mines with her daughter. She was an animal lover, particularly German Shepherds, and an avid fan of both the Notre Dame and Iowa Football Teams. Her favorite meal to share with her family was beef and noodles. She is survived by children, Chris (Cindy White) Tilton of Murfreesboro, TN, Diane (Jeff) Kaltefleiter of West Point, IA, Craig (Cindy Underhill) Tilton of McMinnville, TN, Curt (Katrina Prater) Tilton of McMinnville, TN, Clark (Sandy Harris) Tilton of St. Charles, MO, Dana Tilton of Murfreesboro, TN, and Chuck (Shelby Hensley) Tilton of Murfreesboro, TN; sister, Josey Sylvester Leyes of Cedar Rapids, IA; seventeen grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
