George Bartlett Kealer, Sr. August 25, 1914 - February 13, 2008 Batesville , AR George Bartlett Kealer, Sr., 93, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008. He was born August 25, 1914 to Fred P. Kealer, Sr. and Barbara Ann (Bluerock) Kealer. Living all his years in Batesville as a young boy, he was a paper boy for the Arkansas Democrat – walking his paper route until earning enough money to buy a used bicycle. Later as a young man, during the summer, he worked on the river boats at lock 1, 2, and 3 on the White River. After his school years, he worked for Ideal Bread Company as a route delivery salesman, and then his time went from bread to candy as route salesman for Curtis Candy Company. Later he worked for Mass Merchandise where he retired. On August 21, 1938, he married Wilma H. Buttry. They had two children, George B. Kealer, Jr. and Patricia Ann (Kealer) Owens. He was a faithful member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, serving as junior and senior warden, and giving his time for anything needed in the church. He will be missed by his survivors – one son, George B. Kealer, Jr. and wife, Dorothy, of Batesville; one daughter, Patricia Ann (Kealer) Owens and husband, James Owens of Benton; one granddaughter, Cheryl Lewis, and husband, Scott, of Little Rock; two great-granddaughters, Natalie Garvin and Kaylie Lewis; two step-great-grandsons, Bradley Kealer and Edward Briscoe; one brother, Louis O. D. Kealer, Sr.; two sisters, Anna Mae McSpadden and Rose Marie Dozier, all of Batesville. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wilma H. Kealer; one grandson, Bart Owens; and one brother, Fred P. Kealer, Jr. A graveside service will be at 10:00 Friday, February 15, 2008 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville officiated by the Reverend Middleton Wootten. Pallbearers are Scott Lewis, Louis Kealer, Jr. Scott McSpadden, Allan McSpadden, Danny Dozier, and Tim Dozier. Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Brooks, Mary and Ralph Jones, Phillip Baker, Don Mills, Paul Rhodes, Andy Edwards, Dr. Dave Allen and Dr. Robert Walton. A special thanks to the staff and nurses at Woodlawn Nursing Home. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.
