Bio
Andrew Jackson Parks moved to Scranton, TX (Eastland County) with his parents (father Ambrose; burial Monroe Cem, TX) and siblings in 1888 from Tennessee with a plot of land guaranteed by the Houston, Texas and Central Railroad in Scranton. He was certified by the State of Texas as a MD in 1902, delivering the local babies and providing medical services which started with his horse buggy to travel where help was needed. He married the local Dovie Pounds in 1903; moved to Dallas in about 1918 continuing his practice and adding a Pharmacy and store on Tyler Street in Oak Cliff. The family lived on Kings Highway just down the street from the store. He delivered all of his kids in the house. Info provided by Joel Parks
