Elizabeth Pavlovsky Brod was born to John and Josephine Brenk Pavlovsky on February 20, 1940 in Wharton, Texas. She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Margaret Dunston; and husband of 56 years, Joe Brod, and sister-in-law, Ruth Begnaud. She is survived by a son, Mike Brod (Lakewood, CO): daughter, Susan Gibson and husband Tim (Alvin, TX); and a granddaughter, Hannah Brod (Lakewood, CO); sister, Janet Schwebel (Ronnie); brother, Bubba Pavlovsky (Kim); brother-in-law, Zane Dunston; brother-in-law, Jim Brod (Carmen); and brother-in-law, Jerry Brod; and numerous nieces and nephews. Elizabeth grew up on her parent's dairy farm. She graduated from Boling High School in 1958 and from Wharton County Junior College in 1960. She married Joe Brod on December 31, 1960. They lived in Houston where Elizabeth worked at U. of Texas M.D. Anderson Hospital. While living there, they were blessed with a son. When Joe was hired at Monsanto Chocolate Bayou, they moved to Alvin in March 1962. They were blessed with a daughter the following year. They enjoyed following their children's athletic and band activities and fun trips and vacations. In 2006, Joe and Elizabeth were excited and proud to welcome a granddaughter, Hannah into their family. Elizabeth's family was her treasure. Elizabeth did substitute teaching at the Manvel Schools for several years. She graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Education in May 1975. The following fall she began teaching at Robert Louis Stevenson Elementary. In 1985, she was chosen Teacher of the Year by her peers. She retired in 1996 after 21 years in second grade. She loved her students, and her Stevenson family held a special place in her heart. In retirement, Elizabeth was a member of Alvin Area Retired School Personnel. She was an active member of St. John Catholic Church since 1962. She was an active member of the Altar Society and taught CCE classes. She served as Lector and volunteered in the church office. She enjoyed time spent working with her St. John family. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, you may make a donation for books to the Stevenson Library. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Scott Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Friday, October 21, 2022, at St. John's The Baptist Catholic Church in Alvin. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Pearland, Texas.
