CHRISTINA STEINERT OBITUARY Christina Johannah Steinert March 16, 1911 - April 24, 2006 Christina Steinert, of Delta died gracefully, peacefully and with dignity on Monday, April 24, 2006 at the Delta County Memorial Hospital at the age of 95, with family members at her bed side. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 4th at the San Luis Valley Cemetery in Monte Vista, Colorado. A memorial service in celebration of Christina's long and loving life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, May 11, 2006 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Delta, Colorado. Christina was born in Macon, Nebraska on March 16, 1911, the daughter of Heye and Grace (Brinkman) Loschen.Ê She grew up in the rural farming region of South-Central Nebraska, learning at an early age, the hardships, hard times and hard work associated with making a livelihood from the land.Ê Her formal education was limited to the 8th grade level at Macon, Nebraska, but her acutely inquisitive and engaging nature resulted in a life long learning experience. On September 5, 1931, Christina was united in marriage with George F. Gossman in Nebraska.Ê This union resulted in the birth of four children.ÊGeorge Gossman, a master blacksmith, unable to ply his trade successfully in the poverty stricken farm region during the post depression era, moved Christina and children to Center, Colorado in 1940. Christina lived in the San Luis Valley until 1965 when George passed away.ÊShe then returned to her native Nebraska, where she married Bernhard V. Steinert, and resided there until 1989, when relocation was made to Castle Rock, Colorado. Following the death of Bernhard Steinert, Christina moved to Delta, Colorado, where she made her home until her death. Christina was a diligent homemaker, devoted mother and wife, with a wide range of interests including cooking, gardening, traveling, and social activities with family and friends.ÊShe was widely known for the delicious foods she prepared, including breads, pastries and other baked goods. Christina had an open, trusting demeanor seasoned with a spontaneous sense of humor, which delighted everyone who knew her. Christina was a life-long faithful member of the Lutheran Church. Surviving family members who were honored to share Christina's life include one daughter, Dolores Gore and her husband Wendell of Paonia, CO; two brothers, George Loschen of Hildreth, NE and William Loschen and his wife Leona of Campbell, NE; six grandchildren: Kirsten Simpson and her husband Don of Superior, CA, Sheris Bower and husband Les of Tempe, AZ,Ê Eric Gossman, Kirk Gossman, Erin Gossman and Kristen Kronlund all of California; nine great grandchildren; as well as numerous in-laws and many friends from all the different communities where she had resided. Christina was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two sons, one daughter, as well as a son in law and seven step-children. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that any memorial contributions be made to the Lutheran Hour in Memory of Christina J. Steinert, 660 Mason Ridge Center Dr., St. Louis, MO 63141.
