Bettie Pat (Parham) Giraudin was born March 18, 1924, in Denison, TX, and entered into life eternal on August 19, 2022, in Marble Falls, TX. She graduated from Austin High School in Austin, Texas, and attended the University of Texas before enlisting in the US Army Air Corp in 1944. While in the USAAC, she met and married Paul Giraudin, Jr. Together they had two children, Paul, III and Patrissa Ann. She volunteered as a "Grey Lady" in Wichita Falls, and later worked as a substitute teacher and later as the receptionist for her cousin, Dr. Gregory M. McCaskey, in Corpus Christi. In her 98 years Bettie erased numerous items from her bucket list. She rode in the Goodyear Blimp, flew in a hot air balloon, and rode in an 18- wheeler. After retirement, she began to play golf and traveled to various states participating in tournaments with the Grasshopper group to which she belonged. Owning a ranchette in Goliad with sheep and Belted Galloway ("Oreo") cows was another of Bettie's ventures. The Grande Oaks RV Park continued to operate at the front of her ranchette and was the source of many lasting friendships. Bettie could often be found mowing the front five acres of her property until her 93rd year. Her travels included Europe, Canada, Mexico, Alaska, and Hawaii. Painting was a favorite pastime, which resulted in some of her painting being sold at craft shows throughout the state. Bettie was a lifelong member of the Disciples of Christ Church, including First Christian Church in Corpus Christi and later, South Shore Christian Church, where she served as an Elder. Due to the absence of a Disciples church in Marble Falls, the First United Methodist Church became her new church home. Bettie is predeceased by her parents O.B. and Hazel Parham, one brother, O.B. Parham, Jr. and a sister, Myldred (Parham) Kelly.
