John L. Hlavaty John L. Hlavaty of El Maton, a retired farmer, died Sunday, January 15, in Wagner General Hospital. Rosary was recited at 7 p. m. Monday in the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass was held at 2:30 p. m. Tuesday in St. Peter's Catholic Church in Blessing with Father Jerome Stryk and Father Brian Crookes, officiating. Interment was in St. Peter's Cemetery. Son of the late Martin and Marie Cepak Hlavaty, he was born August 25, 1897 in Caldwell, Texas. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Kalas of Palacios and Mrs. Berniece Dorotik of El Campo; two sons, John F. Hlavaty of Point Comfort and Jerome Hlavaty of Lolita; three sisters, Christine Vavra of Caldwell, Rosalee Pechal of Temple and Agnes Piwonka of Fort Worth; two brothers, Jim Hlavaty of Pasadena and Walter Hlavaty of Caldwell; thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
