James Tribble Mitchell, 88, of San Angelo died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, in a local hospital. Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, in Johnsons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Mitchell of Immanuel Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Mr. Mitchell was born Nov. 29, 1912, in Asherton. He married Christine Kohutek on Feb. 1, 1941, in San Angelo. He owned and operated his own painting business. He is survived by his wife, Christine Mitchell of San Angelo; one daughter, Janeene Green of San Angelo; one son, James Paul Mitchell of Fort Worth; five grandchildren, Richard Overland of Weslaco, Sherri Lee, Amy Gabriel, Laura Jackson and James Mitchell, all of San Angelo; five great-grandchildren, Tim Gabriel, Mat Gabriel, Jason Lee, Stacy Lee and Christopher McAda; one great-great-grandchild, Joshua Gabriel; two brothers, Gene Mitchell of Lubbock and Bud Mitchell and wife,Elgeve, of San Angelo; one sister, Kathleen Mucklery and husband, Mike, of May; and several nieces and nephews.
