Bio

GILMER - Services for Oscar Jackson Robertson, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2008, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer, with the Rev. Norman Johnson, the Rev. Joe Hocking and the Rev. Steve Pippen officiating. Interment will be in Gladewater Memorial Park in Gladewater. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mr. Robertson passed away Saturday, January 19, 2008, at his residence. He was born December 16, 1922, in Wood County, to William O. and Myrtle Robertson. He married Imogene Carr April 26, 1946. She preceded him in death September 11, 2002. He worked in the pulpwood business until his retirement. He worked in truck patching and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Robertson was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two brothers; three sisters; a son, Tommy; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sons, Wiliam Edward Robertson Sr. Jackie Ray Robertson and James Earl Robertson of Gilmer, and Roger Dale Robertson and Gary Lee Robertson of Big Sandy; daughters, Linda Gene Baca of Gladewater, Janis Kay Cooper, Debbie Sue Stracener and Sharon Elaine Palmer of Gilmer, Sandra Gail Sharp of Big Sandy and Frances Marie Drennan of Rosewood; brothers, Lorian Robertson, Billy Joe Robertson and Loyd Robertson of Hawkins; sisters, Dora Peek and Maxine Peek of Hawkins and Martha Marsha of Big Sandy; 36 grandchildren; and 55 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be William "Bill" Robertson Jr., Joshua Sharp, John DeFur, Brian Stacener, Brandon Robertson and Abron Palmer III. Published in the Longview News-Journal on 1/21/2008.
