Sternadel Baby Suffocates Sunday In California Joey Sternadel, the 4-month old baby of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sternadel of Granada Hills, California, suffocated on Easter Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Sternadel and family were visiting relatives when the tragedy occurred. The baby had been put on a bed and somehow suffocated on a piece of plastic. The mother is the former Miss Evelyn Gerik of Waco. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gerik of Waco, flew to California for the funeral services.
