Bio

No place of death has been determined for John Schneider, nor has a birth place or death certificate been found. He came to Texas with his brother, George Andrew, and bought land in McLennan County near Leroy in August of 1875. He married Elisabeth Bergfeld on January 7, 1878 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Teutopolis, Effingham County, Illinois. His son was born in McLennan County in 1879, and he is shown with his wife, son, and brother-in-law in the 1880 census, living in McLennan County. His wife and child returned to Teutopolis, Illinois, where she remarried to Peter Brey in 1895.
