Bio

Bertilla C. Korte, 65, of Fullerton, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fullerton with Reverend David Fulton officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Fullerton. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary service Tuesday, July 5th at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Bert was born December 25, 1956 to Thomas and Tessie (Bialas) Voichoskie at Fullerton. She grew up in Fullerton and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1975. After graduation, she worked at IGA grocery store in Fullerton. On August 9, 1975, she was united in marriage to Dwayne Korte at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Krakow. To this union, three children were born: Jeffrey, Chad, and Craig. She worked at Dales in Columbus for many years before she began working at Fullerton Public School and retired in 2018 due to health issues. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, St. Ann's Altar Society, Eagle's Club, and was an EMT for the Fullerton Rescue Squad for many years. Bert loved sewing, gardening, polka dancing, fishing, and camping. She also bowled in a league for many years. Dwayne and her loved traveling and spent many years going to Colorado skiing and visiting Sherman Reservoir. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was very good at keeping her family in line and will be greatly missed, especially when things get crazy. She is survived by her husband, Dwayne of Fullerton; sons, Chad (Mandy) Korte of Louisville and Craig (Michelle) Korte of Wood River; 10 grandchildren, Marissa, Brett, Alex, Ryan, Keely, Ora, Jayden, Brek, Jase, and Casen; sisters, Norma (Louie) Kontor of Columbus, Chris (Tony) Babb of Fullerton; brothers, Bobby Voichoskie of Fullerton and Chuck (Debbie) Voichoskie of Columbus; step-father, Marion Slusarski of Norfolk; step-brother, Conrad (Diane) Slusarski of Bellwood; step-sister, Sharon (Phil) Ernst of Columbus and Carol Griencewic of Omaha; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey; her parents; and brother, Donny Voichoskie.
