Courtesy of www.pondersfuneralhome.com Mr. Fred E. Parker age 89 of Rocky Face, Georgia departed this life Tuesday June 21, 2022 at the local hospital. He was born March 22, 1933 in Dalton, GA a son of the late Drewy Jackson and Malinda Jane Barrett Parker. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, sisters, his wife of 22 years whom he had devoted his life to Betty Davis Parker, stepson William Davis. He is survived by a devoted grandson Don Carlton Tate 3rd who lived with them for over 20 years and in later years became his caregiver along with his girlfriend Courtney; several children and step children, Krista and Sidney Keith, Robert and Bufie Davis, Dee and Steve Flint, Nancy and Kindle Williams, Rebecca Williams and Pete, Tammy Davis; several grandchildren, step grandchildren. He loved his family and he loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and they loved him and he tried to spoil them when he could. He loved to sit and tell you of his time growing up on the banks of the Sante River in South Carolina, but he loved serving his country and telling the tells of the Korean War. He told he had lifetime fishing license. His hero was John Wayne and he could watch his movies all day. He spent his past time doing puzzles. Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Fred Edward Parker will be held Tuesday July 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday July 5, 2022. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with the American Legion Post 112 in charge of military honors.
