She was raised in Elk City, OK and graduated from Elk City High School in 1968. As the daughter of a church deacon she began playing the piano at First Baptist Church in Canute, OK at the age of 15. After high school graduation she worked as a telephone operator in Elk City which led to meeting her future husband, Arvid Sword. They were married and moved to Wheeler in 1976 where she played the piano at First Baptist Church Wheeler for over 30 years. Joetta lived a life focused on the service of others, constantly juggling the responsibility and challenges of an oil field household. From the weekly neighborhood basketball games, with homemade fried doughnuts ready for a half-time snack, to bringing childhood friends on family vacations, Joetta always strived to make her house a home to everyone. As the mother of three Wheeler HS graduates combined with her role as the church pianist, she was deeply connected to the lives of many members of the Wheeler community. Preceding Joetta in death were: her parents, Joe and Nadine Williamson, her sister, Melinda Simpson, and her husband of 30 years, Arvid J Sword. She is survived by her sons, Robert "Bobby" Schubert of Oklahoma City, OK, Kyle and Jennifer Schubert of Amarillo, TX, and Ben and Arielle Sword of Stephenville, TX; her step-children, Eugene and Suzanne Sword of Byron, GA, Viola Pitts of Verdigris, OK and Jaylene Fallin of Verdigris, OK; fourteen grandchildren, and twenty-one great grandchildren.
