Celby M. Conner, 70, of Burwell, Nebraska died May 7, 2014 at his home. There will be a private family service. Celby was born September 9, 1943 at home near Burwell, Nebraska on the land settled by his grandfather, George Conner. Celby grew up in Garfield County and graduated from Ord High School in 1962. Celby married Mary Markowski on January 27, 1976 in Texas. Celby farmed and ranched all of his life near Burwell, except for one year in 1976 when he lived in Colorado working in the coal mines. Celby was a member of the Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, old cars, boxing, playing cribbage and John Wayne. He was a great grandpa and enjoyed spending time with his family. Celby is survived by his wife Mary Conner of Burwell, Nebraska. Three children, Mark and Sandra Conner of Keenesburg, Colorado, Jim and Monica Pishna of Grand Island, Nebraska and Marla and Steve Thompson of Winterset, Iowa. Fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Three brothers, Delmer and Dee Conner of Burwell, Nebraska, Orville and Marlene Conner of North Carolina and Darrell Conner of Nebraska. Celby was preceded in death by his parents, and infant daughter, Jodie and a brother, Audrey Conner.
