Burial will follow in the Hopeville Cemetery, south of Murray, Iowa with full military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Davis-Pence Post No. 69 and the U.S. Navy Military Funeral Honors. Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield. Corvis Mark Cooper was born July 23, 1944, the son of Ronald James and Alma Rowena (Grimm) Cooper in Osceola, Iowa. He passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at his home near Orient, Iowa, at the age of 77. Corvis was raised near Ellston, Iowa and graduated from Grand Valley High School in Kellerton, Iowa. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from July 1965 to August 1969. He was a ship fireman serving in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medals with two Bronze Star Medals. He was united in marriage to Cherry Burkholder and to this union one son, Chad was born. He worked as a carpenter for Betts and Beer Construction in Adair, Iowa, until February 1987. On April 9, 1991, he was united in marriage to Paula Bakerink in Arkansas. He worked at Cardinal IG in Greenfield for 29 years, retiring in 2016. Corvis enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, rock hunting and NASCAR racing. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alma Selsor; step father, Burton Selsor; father and step mother, Ronald and Doris Cooper; wife, Paula Cooper; brother, Dwight Selsor; and grandparents, Everett and Neva Grimm, who raised Corvis. He is survived by his son, Chad Cooper of Des Moines; three step-daughters, Stephanie Johnson and husband Craig of Indianola, Shannon Miller and husband Daniel of Fontanelle and Casey Long of Fontanelle; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; brother, Stanley Selsor and wife Carolyn of Osceola; special uncle, Lowell Grimm of Missouri; special nephew, Chance Selsor (Sierra) of Thayer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dick and Carla Leeper of Greenfield; many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. ---------- Western Iowa Today 96.5 KSOM KS 95.7 - May 27, 2022 Corvis Cooper, 77, of rural Orient passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at his home.
