Gary A. Ummel, 75 of Grand Island, died on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at CHI Health - St. Francis in Grand Island, with his family by his side. Gary was born on May 13, 1947 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Albert and Alice (Lacey) Ummel. He attended school in Grand Island. He was married to Kay Ummel and they had 2 children, Chris and Michelle. The couple later divorced. He has been married to Estel Ummel for 30 years and they have 2 children, James and Brandy. Gary worked at various places throughout his life. His greatest task was being the owner and operator of Sheffield Tree Service in Grand Island for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, hot rods, gambling, and socializing with friends. His famous last words were always, "One More" whether it was one more vehicle, one more round, or now more than ever, he'd say, "One More Day!" Gary was preceded in death by his parents; and brother and sister-in-law, Glen & Myrtle. Interment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
