Evelyn Mae Betts, 94, of Central City passed away Sunday, May 16, 2022, at Oakland Heights Nursing Home in Oakland, Nebraska. Funeral services will be Monday, May 23, 2022 at 2 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Central City with Pastor Tom Lucas officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Bureau Cemetery near Pierce Chapel. Evelyn was born on May 26, 1927 to Elmer and Ella (Lilienthal) Herman in Grand Island, Nebraska. She grew up in Clarks and graduated from Clarks High School in 1944. She married Robert Betts on August 27, 1947 in Ontario, Oregon. Evelyn worked as a bookkeeper at Cox Service Station, the Republican Nonpareil, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She was also a licensed real estate agent. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Central City. She was a member of the American Legion Post #6 and Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3795 for several years. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping, spending time with family, and a cold beer. She is survived by daughters; Janice Bolen of Lyons, NE; Joyce (Jim) Kiser of Augusta, KS; son; Douglas (Sharon) Betts of Tucson, AZ; 10 grandchildren; Anna Berg, Jeanne Bolen, Stephanie Evelyn Greve, Megan Johnson (Travis), Christina Balch, Karla Stinson (Darel), Bryan Kiser (Jenny), Jeff Kiser (Erin), Ryan Betts, and Kara Boucher (Anthony); 32 great grandchildren; Ashley Parcel (Jason), Alex Berg (Alesha), Andre Berg, Adrian Berg, Aubrey Berg, Anthony Bolen, Jess Redding, Kyra Schleis, Shieler Greve (Nikki), Zebediah Greve, Sky Greve, Xandir Greve, Lileigh Greve, Jordan Wanamaker, Zachary Wanamaker, Nicholas Johnson, Tobias Balch (Carissa), Grace Balch, Lincoln Balch, Hannah Mahannah (D.J.), Hayden Stinson, Karson Stinson, Cortney Kiser, Andrew Kiser, Kayleigh Kiser, Trevor Kiser, Tyler Kiser, Brett Kiser, Breckyn Kiser, Michael Betts, Dace Boucher, and Tate Boucher; 5 great-great grandchildren; Evan Redding, Kendrick and Aunali Parcel, Gray Wanamaker, Alton Greve, and one on the way. Also survived by a special little friend named Herbie, her Yorkie-Pomeranian. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Douglas Bolen; grandson-in-law, Alan Berg; brothers, Robert (Thelma) Herman, and Harold (Gladys) Herman; sister-in-law, Betty (Gerald) Miller; and brother-in-law, Gerald (Charlene) Betts.
