Bio
Gladys Taylor Phillips , an Iredell homemaker, died Sunday in a Clifton hospital. She was 82. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Iredell First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. Mrs. Phillips was born Nov. 22, 1909, in the Spring Creek community near Iredell, and was raised and attended school there. She was married to Kenneth Freeman Phillips on Dec. 23, 1930, in Iredell; he died July 27, 1982. She had lived in the Iredell area all of her life and was a member of Iredell First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Dale Phillips of Denton and Danny Phillips of Hamilton; and eight grandchildren. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. The family has designated the American Cancer Society for memorials. (Obituary from the Waco Tribune-Herald Newspaper (Jan 07, 1992 pg 20). Gladys Taylor and Kenneth Freamon Phillips were married December 23, 1930. Mr. K.F. Phillips of near Iredell and Miss Gladys Taylor of near Meridian were married Tuesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Harris of Iredell. Rev. D.D. Tidwell officiated. Mrs. Phillips is the daughter of Joe Taylor. Her mother died when she was a little girl, leaving three little daughters, and she raised them, which is very commendable of her.
