Wichita Eagle, Thursday, May 11, 1950, Page 4a Retired Cafe Operator of Clearwater Passed Ellis B. Smith, aged 79, retired restaurant operator of Clearwater, died Wednesday at a local hospital. Born in Clarinda, Ia., Sept. 30, 1870, he came to Kansas when his parents settled near Lebanon in Smith county. Mr. Smith resided in Clearwater 40 year and was a member of the Baptist church and Odd Fellows lodge. Surviving are his wife, Lola, at home, brothers, Ebb and Orie of Lebanon, Dan of Rockford, Ill. and French of California, and sisters, Mrs. E. M. Frazier of 727 South Poplar, Mrs. Edna Huntinger of Alhambra, Cal., Mrs. Opal Lock of Lebanon. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p. m. Friday at the Clearwater Baptist church by Rev. Virgil F. Young and Rev. James Bearden. Graveside services will be conducted by the I. O. O. F. lodge at the Clearwater cemetery. Webb mortuary of Clearwater is in charge.
