Son of John and Katherina (Dolezal) Virgl. Married Katerina Cepleka on February 28, 1876 in Bohusoudov, Moravia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic). The couple immigrated to the United States on the SS Pommerania , which arrived in New York City from Hamburg, Germany on June 7, 1876. The ship manifest includes Vaclav Virgl (age 26, workman), Frantiska (20, wife), Antonie (0, baby), Caterine (60), Peter Virgil (26, workman), and Caterina (26, wife). The family was from Austria. The 1880 census lists Peter Wirgel (age 28, farmer, born Bohemia), his wife Kate (30, keeps house, Bohemia), and daughter Mary (3, Nebraska) in Franklin Precinct, Butler County, Nebr., next to Peter's brother Anton and his family. Peter died before Katerina's second marriage (1884) and presumably lies buried in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
