David Baker and Ella Kegler Boddie. Harbin moved often during his childhood, as to Methodist ministers' families. This afforded him a basis for many stories that he loved sharing with friends and family. After graduating from Bolton High School, he attended Centenary College. His college was interrupted in order to service in the United States Army for four years during World War II. He returned to Centenary College after the war and graduated in 1946. He was one of the earliest members of the Centenary College Choir. Harbin remained connected to Centenary College in many areas. In 2011, he was awarded the Alumni Loyalty Award, one of his most cherished honors. Mr. Boddie was a long time educator in Caddo Parish. He served as teacher at Cotton Valley High School, Fair Park High School and Lakeshore Junior High School before becoming a counselor at Broadmoor Junior High School. He then became Attendance Supervisor for Caddo Parish School Board, and when he retired in 1973, he was the Principal of Queensborough Elementary School. He remained active in the Caddo Retired Teachers' Association and the Louisiana Retired Teachers' Association Mr. Boddie was a faithful member of the Noel Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of Freeman Fellowship Sunday School Class. His greatest joy was serving his Lord through music as a member of the Chancel Choir, retiring after 64 years of loyal service. While living at Live Oak, Harbin enjoyed the many activities offered, especially being a part of the Astros Bean Bag Baseball Team. They competed in the Senior Olympics many times and he earned many Gold medals.
