Bio

On Thursday, April 23rd, 2020, Howard Franklin Ivy died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 75 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Howard was born on October 16th, 1944 in Teague, Texas to James "Swede" Ivy and Molly Burnham Ivy. He was the 3rd child of eight children, and his family was important to him from the beginning. They always took care of each other. In Keeping with family tradition, Howard was a skilled carpenter building houses and providing livelihoods for his community. As long as you would abide by his work ethic, he was willing to give you the shirt of his back. Because, as you would come to find out, his way was the right-and only-way. He was preceded in death, by his parents, his brother Joel, and his son Danny Lee Tolliver. Also, preceding him in death were his beloved brothers, Jimmy and Lucky Ivy, who were waiting for Howard in heaven with fishing poles and tackle ready. Now that the brothers are reunited, they are building our forever home for the rest of us when we join them. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ramona Jean Morriss Ivy. The love they shared was rare, and they were true partners in life. He is also survived by his sisters, Ruth, Lena, Tammie, Tina, and sister-in-law, Erin. Additionally, he is survived by his sons, Charles David, Darrell Ray and wife Marsha, daughter Deirdre Ann and Craig, his 9 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, who he all loved dearly.
