LEVELLAND - Tom Cookston, 90, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Covenant Hospital in Levelland. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Geo. C. Price Funeral Chapel with Jack Bruce, minister of Austin St. Church of Christ, officiating. Masonic grave rites will be conducted by Levelland Lodge #1236, A.F. and A.M., in the City of Levelland Cemetery under the direction of Geo. C. Price Funeral Chapel. He was born Sept. 26, 1912, in Royce City, Texas. He moved to Levelland in 1929 from Stamford. He married Opal Peters on March 9, 1946. She died Dec. 19, 1958. He later married Pauline Marcom on Sept. 24, 1972, in Levelland. He owned and operated the Texas CafŽ and the Golden Grill for a number of years before his retirement. He was a member of Levelland Lodge #1236, A.F. and A.M., and served as Worshipful Master in 1972 and again in 1977. He was Secretary of the Masonic Lodge for 11 years. He was made a Life Member of the Masonic Lodge in 1983 and an Endowed Member in 1985. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Levelland. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Cecil Cookston, Joe Cookston, and Pud Cookston.
