Bio
Stanley Wayne Smith, 54, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 26, 2007 at the Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas. The son of Marvin and Pauline (Ferris) Smith, he was born on August 24, 1953 in Guymon, Oklahoma. Stan grew up in Texhoma, Oklahoma and attended school there. Following his graduation in 1971, he attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Stan was employed by Baker-Hughes Oil Tool in Lafayette, Louisiana up until November of 2007, when he moved back to Texhoma to be with family and friends for the remainder of his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Ernest Smith and a brother, Marlin Ray "Bub" Smith . He is survived by his mother and step-father, Pauline and Clarence Thrasher of Texhoma, Texas, a sister and her husband, Sherry and Tom Diller of Gruver, Texas, and a step-brother and his wife, Jim and Brenda Thrasher of Des Moines, Iowa. He is also survived by grandchildren, Amy and Tyler Pettingill; nieces and their spouses: Tobi and Eric Cullop, Codi and Lee Mason, Andi and Tim Perez, Brynea and James Daman and Amanda Thrasher; as well as many friends in Louisiana where he lived and worked for many years. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, December 29th at 2:00 p.m. at the Grace Southern Baptist Church in Guymon with Pastor Tom Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in the Texhoma Cemetery in Texhoma, Texas. Services are under the direction of the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon. The family suggest that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Grace Southern Baptist Church. Memorials will be accepted at the church office or the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
