Bio

Benita Julia Filipp Dixon was born on July 4th, 1928, on Kubena Place SE of Moulton, Lavaca County, Texas. She was delivered at home by her Aunt Ella Pustejovsky Filipp. She was the second of eight siblings born to Frank Joseph and Emilie Julia Pustejovsky Filipp. Frank and Emilie moved their family to Danbury Tx in 1932 and that's where Benita and her three sisters and four brothers grew up. Benita left this earth on December 18th, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband W.A. "Bill" Dixon, son William A. "Billy" Dixon Jr, sister Georgian and brother-in-law Alfred "Preacher" Reeder, brother Eugene" Hoot" Filipp, brother Alvin "Meek" and sister-in-Law Esther Filipp, sister-in-law Loretta Filipp, brother Jimmie Filipp, and brother-in-law Brady Stark. She is survived by her son Darrell and wife Donnie Dixon, son Harold "Buck" Dixon, daughter Cynthia Rogers and husband David, granddaughter Courtney Faith Hendrickson and husband Todd, sister Ellamarie Filipp, brother Ben "Poik" Filipp, sister Mary Stark, and sister-in-law Barbara Filipp, along with many Dixon in- laws, nephews, nieces and friends (She never met a stranger). Benita married Bill Dixon in 1947 and they moved to Alvin Texas, where they raised their children. She loved and cherished her children, granddaughter Courtney, and her family. Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, gardening, dancing, whistling, fishing, traveling, socializing, and playing dominoes. Benita was very active in Scouts, baseball, and DeMolay as her children were growing up. She was also very active as she served in the Alvin Chapter of the Optimist Club alongside her husband Bill. She worked for the Alvin School District and then went to work at the Alvin Sears store for many years. After retirement Benita and Bill moved to Bastrop Bayou where they thoroughly enjoyed entertaining friends and family. In 1999 they moved back to Danbury where their circle of life was completed. Benita's pall bearers will be her nephews and her family requests in lieu of flowers please consider a donation to PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) or the charity of your choice. The visitation and funeral service for Benita will take place on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Palms Funeral Home. The visitation will begin at 10:00 am and continue until the start of the service at 11:00 am. The family asks those who attend to please wear a mask. Palms Funeral Home
