William James Parrott was born 20 February 1755 (or 1763) in Canterbury Manor, Talbot County, Province of Maryland, the eldest son of Henry Parrott and Susanna James. Several sources give his birth in 1755, another source gives his birth in 1763. In 1790 William J. Parrott is recorded living in Ann Arundel County, Maryland. During the 1820 census W. J. Parot is in Turtle Creek Township, Warren County, Ohio. The 1827 Tax records of Turtle Creek Township, Warren County, Ohio show that William Parrott had three horses and one cow. The evaluation of a horse was forty dollars and a cow was eight dollars. His son William Parrott, Junior had one horse and one cow in the same year and in the same township. In 1850 William J. Parrott is recorded as being 87 years old, born in Maryland, and living with William Parrott (his son) in Blooming Grove Township, Franklin County, Indiana. In Maryland William was a member of the Church of England (Anglican Church), which in the former American Colonies - after the War of Independence - was renamed the ''Episcopal Church''. In Indiana he was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. About 1791 William James Parrott wed Katherine Smith in Talbot County, Maryland. William and Katherine had the following three children: Edward Parrott, William Parrott, James David Parrott. Katherine Smith Parrott died in 1798 in Talbot County, Maryland. About 1800 the widower William Parrott married secondly Matilda Tharp in Talbot County. Matilda was born about 1776 in Talbot County. William and Matilda had seven children, all born in Maryland except for the youngest, born in Ohio: Elizabeth (Parrott) Lane, Henry Parrott, Lucretia Parrott, Thomas Parrott, John Parrott, Ann (Parrott) McComb, Charles Parrott. William died on 20 August 1854 in Blooming Grove Township, Franklin County, Indiana. Matilda Tharp died about 1855 in Blooming Grove, Indiana.
