Bio

A celebration of life for Jimmy Blakeney of Malakoff will be held Thursday December 2, 2021, at 1 p.m. till 2 p.m. at Autry's Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens, Tx with Erick Graham officiating. Family graveside to follow at Malakoff Cemetery. Jim was born on March 26, 1943, to Jim and Pearl Blakeney in Ft. Worth, Texas, and he went on to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 28, at home surrounded by his loving family. He grew up in Dallas, Texas and moved to Malakoff to go to high school, where he played football and helped his team win district in 1960 and graduated in 1961. He attended Trinity Valley Jr. College where he played football as well. He lived in Trinidad in the 70's where he worked at Nipak and serving many years on the volunteer fire department. Jim went on to work for TXU for 35 years at the Big Brown plant in Fairfield. Upon retiring, he pursued his love for ranching in Murchison, Tx. Not a day went by he didn't "Go to the pasture and check the cows." He spent most of his mornings at the local café with his coffee buddies. He was a member of the Cedar Creek Model A Club and loved to show off his 1929 Model A. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Pearl Blakeney and Father Jim Blakeney and sister, Judy Presley. He leaves behind his sidekick Max. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. His smile and twinkling eyes will be missed by many.
