Bio

Odie Emily Hamilton was taken to the Lord on January 9, 2019, at the age of 103. She was born in Granger Texas in 1915, where she grew up with her parents and 12 brothers and sisters. She attended Granger High School where she tutored several students in math and was a member of the school's drama club. Graduating from high school, she attended business college in Dallas Texas. After college she worked for Texas Old Age Assistance, know named the Texas Department of Human Services. Odie married C.R. (Ross) Hamilton in 1938. She continued to work for the state until her fifth child was born. At that time, she left her state job and devoted her attention towards raising her children and keeping the books for her husband's business Hamilton Electric Works. Odie joined The Catholic Women's Fraternal of Texas (K.J.Z.T) in 1958 and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Maria Galante #115. She was the K.J.Z.T. treasurer for many years and was recognized for her service in the KJZT membership Drive selling Life Insurance. In 2008, she was recognized for 50 years of membership in both organizations. Being of Czech heritage, she spent many years at Aqua Fest on Czech Night working the Kolache Booth with her K.J.Z.T. friends and family. Odie was a fun-spirited woman who always had an open door for friends and family. She loved children, enjoyed gardening, travel and entertaining. She is missed by many. Odie was preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Edward Bartosh; husband, Ross, and their first born son, Edward Ross; brothers, Shorty, Jerry, Roman, Henry, Max Ben and Walter Bartosh; sisters, Lillian Cervanka, Anita Bartosh, Eleanor Bartosh and Georgia Blakeslee. Odie is survived by her daughters, Donna Spaar Brune, Sandra H. Roberts, and sons Gary, Dale, and Mike Hamilton, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, her sister Margie Pustejovsky; and many loved nieces and nephews. Special thanks to all the caregivers that have help Odie and her family through the last chapter in her life. Services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019, at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church at 7601 Burnet Road, Austin, Texas, with Recitation of Holy Rosary at 1:00 PM and a Memorial Mass at 1:30 PM.
