Bio

On the morning of Saturday, October 30th our mother Bessie Marie Gregory went to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born in Celina, TX, August 7, 1934 to Thomas Jefferson and Bessie Ellen Crone.  She lived most of her life in Denton County, TX, graduating from Denton High School in 1953. She worked 25 years at Denton State School where she retired in 1990. She loved to socialize being a member of VFW post 9168, Beta-Sigma-Phi sorority and secretary of the Lions Club in Avinger, TX. Bessie met Lawrence in January 1954 and were married March 14th, just two months later. They were married sixty-six years before he went to be with the Lord. Together they had three children, Lawrence Jr. (Bubba), Jody and Melinda Gay.  She was a beautiful, gentle caring soul.  She was the best mother we could ever ask for. She raised us with love. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, provider, driver, playmate, mentor and teacher and managed to have a job, keep a home, raise a family, be a daughter, sister, friend and do it all with love. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her kids friends thought of her as being sweet and thoughtful. We will remember her staying up late sewing costumes and playing her many video gaming systems. Bessie was best known to her grandchildren as "Honey".  This is the name that Lawrence called her and they thought that was her name.  She was a woman of strong faith and loved her lord and savior. She will be remembered as kind and gentle and when we remember things about her, we will smile. She has found peace and is whole again and with her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Sr., son Lawrence Jr. (Bubba), Son-in-Law Joe Pablo, as well as her parents and brothers and sisters. She is survived by daughters, Jody McCollum and husband Chris, Melinda Pablo, grandchildren; Michael and Melony McCollum, Jennifer and Matt Lee, Jordan Gregory, great grandchildren; Remington, Madison, Wyatt and Cason. She has seven step-grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Louise Taylor and many nieces and nephews.
