Bio

Gary A. Foit, 70, of Waco, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021. Private graveside services were held Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Gary was born November 24, 1950, in Waco, Joe and Josephine (Barton) Foit. He was a 1969 graduate of LaVega High School before receiving an associate degree in applied science from TSTI in 1972. Gary was a member of the West Brethren Church. He was a seed processor for the Texas Department of Agriculture in Giddings for over 13 years. He also worked for Payless Cashways for 14 years, for McCoy's Building Supplies for five years, and then for Mission Waco for several years before retiring in 2010. Gary always had a million stories. He never met a stranger; everyone enjoyed being around him. He was a southern gentleman and cowboy and enjoyed watching western movies, listening to country music, barbecuing, and watching college football, especially the Texas Longhorns. He was a very hard worker and was considered different, but he never judged anyone else for being so. He was a gentle giant at 6'4" tall. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Joe R. Foit; his mother, Josie (Barton) Foit Harper; and his brother-in-law, Gary Hough. Survivors include his brother, Ronny Foit and wife, Kathy, of Chalk Bluff; his sister, Jana Hough of Waco; a niece, Leah Hough, and husband, Jaime Barrientos; his nephews, Luke Foit and wife, Heather, and Joe Foit and wife, Shelly; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
