Debra A. (Howard) Schlund, 68, of Kearney, died October 13, 2021 at the Kearney Regional Medical Center. Debra was born July 3, 1953 to Victor "V.C." and Dorothy (Fisher) Howard in Sargent, Nebraska. She graduated from Litchfield High School in 1971. Following graduation, she started working for M.N.I.S. in Broken Bow. Debra enjoyed the many clients she met through her work. She married Bill Schlund and they later divorced. Debra moved to Tooele, Utah in 1984, where she continued working as a social worker until she retired in 2012. Debra loved spending time with her family and friends. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She also enjoyed reading, watching westerns, shopping, jewelry, and Avon. Debra is survived by her sons, Derek Schlund of Kearney, Brian and Virginia Schlund of Tooele, UT; daughter, Nicole Schlund of Tooele, UT; brothers, Brent Howard of Litchfield, Brad and Michele Howard of Litchfield; sisters, Vicki and Paul Peters of Casper, WY, Emma Whitaker of Loudenville, OH; three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Debra was preceded in death by two infant brothers, sister-in-law, Ronda Howard, brother-in-law, Mark Whitaker, and great nephew Hudson Lee Hendricks.
