Bio

Ed, better known as Eddie, was born March 2, 1950 to Edward, Sr. and Marie (Hain) Greguras in Seward, Nebraska. He attended school in Bee, Nebraska, and then Dwight Assumption School before graduating in 1968 from St. Thomas Aquinas High School, David City, Nebraska. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy February 18, 1971 and served during the Vietnam era before being discharged December 6, 1972. Ed married Cathy (Berglund) Greguras September 4, 1971 in David City, Nebraska. Ed and Cathy were a role model couple of 'until death do us part' for all 44 years of their marriage. They spent most hours of every day together at work, at play, praying, living and loving life. He cherished his marriage, admired his siblings, was proud of his kids, adored his granddaughters and loved us all. Ed owned and operated Greguras' Floor Service along with Cathy since 1981. Eddie was a master of his art and skill at laying carpet and vinyl flooring throughout Seward, York, Butler, Saline and Lancaster counties. In his free time, Eddie enjoyed fishing the lakes and oceans blue, traveling the U.S. and across the world, and going to casinos for the chance of a big win. He loved and looked forward to spending time with his family and friends near and far. While his family was his number one priority and held a special place in his heart, his friends were just as important and meant the world to him. His smile was infectious, his whistle always heard, and his laughter abundant. Ed was a member of Dwight Legion Post #110 and honored to be a veteran. Ed died October 14, 2015 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 65 years, 7 months and 12 days. He is survived by his wife, Cathy (Berglund) Greguras, Seward, Nebraska; daughter, Stephanie (Justin) Ek, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; son, Chad (Vanessa) Greguras, LaVista, Nebraska; granddaughters, Schyler Ek, Sierra Ek, Shelbi Greguras, Sadie Greguras; brother, Clarence "Sonny" (Charlotte) Greguras, Brainard, Nebraska; sister, Mary Beth (Sam) Smith, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws, Emily Greguras, Bee, Nebraska; Burt and Sandy Berglund, Omaha, Nebraska; Roger Berglund, Washougal, Washington; Carol Berglund, Lincoln, Nebraska; Dee (Berglund) and Chris Kosch, Reno, Nevada, Barb (Berglund) and Tom Tomek, St. Charles, Illinois, Sharry (Berglund) and Mike Arneson, Cheyenne, Wyoming. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marie Greguras; parents-in-law, Allan and Mildred Berglund; brother, Bill Greguras; niece, Jeannie Greguras; sister-in-law, Barbara Greguras; brother-in-law, Dan Berglund. Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 20, 2015, St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, 152 Pinewood Ave., Seward, Nebraska. Burial: Full Military Honors, Dwight American Legion Post # 110, Seward Cemetery Seward, Nebraska.
